Stonehenge Visitor Centre project in doubt
by Simon at 22:06 17/06/10 (Blogs::Simon)
The announcement today that the new Govt has withdrawn the funding promised by its predecessor is extremely disappointing.

I can't understand it - Stonehenge desperately needs to have the visitor experience improved, and the new visitor centre project was specifically designed to be extremely cost-effective while achieving that aim, especially when compared to previous attempts over the last many decades.

(Facebook folks, click 'view original post' for more)

10m (the figure promised by Ben Bradshaw, the previous Labour Secretary of State for DCMS in October 2009) is the balance of the 25m project costs when money by other sources has been taken into account.

Where are all the modern day Cecil Chubb-style philanthropists when you need them?

Immortality awaits the one who's prepared to stick their hand in their pocket and rescue this project immediately.
