Want!
by Bruce Ure at 11:01 28/06/06 (Blogs::Bruce)
I want this!

It's a Titan 1 ICBM Missile Base.

I've no idea what I would do with it, but still.

And it fetched only 778,000usd.

I have a good idea as to what to use it for, ahem , it'd be perfect if only it wasn't located where it is :)

You're a closet troglodyte.

The eighteen Titan 1 sites are huge. They're the ultimate in fixer-upper properties, and the bills would be staggering for even respectably wealthy millionaires. They weren't demolished, because by the time you fueled a Titan 1 missile up, you could hit it from Russia. Unfortunately all 54 of the Titan 2 sites were seriously demolished and exposed to satellites as part of the SALT agreeements. One was rebuilt:

If you're interested in this sort of thing, for a couple of million dollars you could have a rennovated Atlas F site in Adirondack State Park in NY (once part of the Plattsburgh AFB complex), complete with its own FAA approved runway.
