It wouldn't fit in the Mac Mini is the main problem with PCI cards. Although I think USB is not a terribly reliable real-time video medium, but there wasn't much choice.
Ultimately I think I may run the MythTV engine on a beefy PC in a dark backroom and then use the Mini as a client, and another client in the living room downstairs. This is the current plan, as there's a MythTV client port to OSX.
I don't think the Elgato seller is going to cough up a refund very easily :-/
