IIRc from a usb drive on a win laptop via an ethernet hub and cable, using finder to map the drive and copy, and more than 1 copy at a time or anything else whilst copying resulted in the scernario above, and finder wouldn't relaunch.

not that I care of course, becuase I don't :)
