After watching Bruce's efforts on his new laptop at copying gobs loads of data onto it and it consistently crashing....hmmmm

See the spinning beachball of death, watch in horror as it turns into the sensitive pointer of nothingnesss ...

How you mac lovers ever get any work done is beyond me :)

OK then, how was he attempting the transfer? SMB/FTP/etc to one of your servers? Wireless or wired? Pulling data from the server, or having data pushed at it by the server? Memory stick? Waving the computer wildly in the direction of the chair? RFC 1149? Enquiring minds would like to know... (especially given the trouble we had getting your laptop to talk to my wifi) -- simon

ask him... IIRc from a usb drive on a win laptop via an ethernet hub and cable, using finder to map the drive and copy, and more than 1 copy at a time or anything else whilst copying resulted in the scernario above, and finder wouldn't relaunch. not that I care of course, becuase I don't :) -- bombholio

unfortunately not, got visitors sat lunchtime (sob sob) and sat night and if I go to his place anymore this week people will start to think I live there :) -- bombholio
