LVM is absolutley solid and very usable (IMHO, on RHEL4) but 15 mins to format /boot is scary: should be more like 1.5 seconds, unless the RAIS card was going crazy at the time syncing up?
...not surprised the GUI installer was wobbly tho ;-)
From a DR perspective reproducing in a %post is a wonderful luxury: just built a VMWare server on top of rhel 4 and haqve built the configs etc. into %post: I can re-produce the system in 15 mins now with just a boot image (and from the 2nd attempt onwards, it doesn't trash the connected RAID 5 data disks (doh ;-)
worth posting the ks.cfg here? might be something useful in it, and the LVM root disk layouts are pretty :-)
