It's built to the same design as (and with some of the spare parts from) the Mars Express mission.

The 'Express' bit comes from the speed of development (only 3 years) from inception to launch.

Should be interesting to see what they find - some speculation that it's generally more likely to find life in the atmosphere of Venus than on the surface of Mars (extremophiles and whatnot), since there's actually some moisture in Venus' atmosphere.

What's in a name? The ISS was originally to have been called Space Station 1 - a misnomer if ever there was one as it forgets all about SkyLab (great name - very Gerry Anderson).
