Maglev windmills

What worries me mainly is the size of the thing (see pic on their home page).

If it should come off its magnetic bearings and start rolling through the town.....

Neat idea though - Eric Laithwaite would've approved. Maglev *and* gyroscopic, if they did the design right.

Cool concept.

Shame the website is a bit long on rhetoric but short on engineering detail... And as you say, the scale does present some problems ("Very brave Minister - I'm sure your consituency is clamoring to have a 100m rotating windmill advertising platform on their green and pleasant land" ;-)

Indeed - and no mention of patent numbers either, which leads me to think perhaps all there is is a pretty website. At one stage I was wondering whether I was reading a 19th Century US "Kellogs" advert by mistake.

I've mailed their 'investor' contact email addr asking if they have patent references.
