3-D search engines David Crowson - 14:00 16/04/04
Anyone remember 'Illustra'? Simon - 17:37 16/04/04
The 2-D image datablade of that database engine (acquired by Informix IIRC), sometime back in 96, was capable of finding images like other images by examining the image content itself.

For some reason I can't remember I went on an Illustra training course at some stage but I do remember being very impressed with its capabilities.

Naturally, there were the odd wrinkles.... I did a search for "more images like this image of a Porsche 911" and got back several more pages of images of other Porsche 911s - and one picture of a frog.
