The Theft of LSE's Bruce the Beaver
by Simon at 16:51 28/05/03 (History of RCS Mascotry)
Well, that is the story of our mascot, THETA. Now here are the stories of the other mascots that we have held recently. Remember, the object of Mascotry is to steal and then ransom another College's mascot back to them for charity.
On the morning of St. Valentine's Day 1984, a team of RCS Mascoteers descended on the London School of Economics disguised as a departmental trip to Edinburgh. A contact at the LSE had told us that Bruce the Beaver (a 5ft tall cuddly toy) had accidentally been revealed during a lecture when a lecturer had operated the curtains on the stage instead of the projection screen! We hung about in the foyer of their building while three of our number set off to find Bruce. He was duly found and spirited away to the strains of a triumphant Kangela.
