Thwack, thwack, thwack! Bad Reuters! This is not the plant saying it's thirsty, it's some sensor designed by humans and set up by a retail member of Joe Public based on soil composition and plant characteristics.
I predict lots of misconfiguration with the result that genuinely thirsty plants stay thirsty and drowning ones get swamped...
