THETA MK IV
by Simon at 16:38 28/05/03 (History of RCS Mascotry)
THETA MK IV is 7ft long, made of a solid stainless steel bulb and 6ft of steel hydraulic piping calibrated (logarithmically) from zero Kelvin to Infinity.
Along the shaft are graduations representing temperatures of 0, 1, 2, 10, 50, 100, 273, 1000, 10000, and infinity K.

THETA MK IV was christened at a special THETA Dinner on Thursday 13th February 1975 and has stayed in our possession for 12 years! He is the only 'Virgin' mascot left at IC now, and we are justifiably proud of this fact.

THETA MK IV's 10th Birthday was celebrated in 1985 with the Annual Dinner held at the London International Hotel on the Cromwell Road where we had the chance to meet the people who were responsible for his creation in 1975. A life size THETA cake was also present (and devoured) and as has become usual in recent time, Guilds never even got a sniff of the action.

Cartoon THETA returned briefly in 1983 drawn by the then Broadsheet Editor, Simon Banton, and once by Pete Hunt and has continued to make guest appearances in adverts and on personal pewter pots since then. He is currently resident on the minute hand of the clock in the RCSU Office but could pop up anywhere at any time.
