I've been using a PAYG Nokia 3410 for the past few years, and it just keeps going. Kris has had her slightly earlier model equivalent for almost 7 years.

My Dad is using what appears to be a Binatone phone, nasty orange plastic thing he got from a boot sale and has almost no features at all aside from text and a phone book. I think he recharges it about once a month.
