Wasn't it great. I thought "well, I'll just go and catch Australia's death throes..." only to see them score three goals, each more jaw-dropping than the last*.
We have big plasmas (though not HD; the UK's only just waking up to that) and TPTB have thoughtfully provided beer and pizza (2 quid) for most matches that start at 5pm our time. They've given the entire workforce permission to stop work ten minutes early on Thursday so we can all get seated in the cafeteria for the 5pm kickoff.
I hate to admit it, but I'm finding myself ineluctably drawn in. It happened for the first time in 2002, but I can feel it stronger this time.
