Stonehenge Visitor Centre project in doubt

The announcement today that the new Govt has withdrawn the funding promised by its predecessor is extremely disappointing.

I can't understand it - Stonehenge desperately needs to have the visitor experience improved, and the new visitor centre project was specifically designed to be extremely cost-effective while achieving that aim, especially when compared to previous attempts over the last many decades.

(Facebook folks, click 'view original post' for more)

£10m (the figure promised by Ben Bradshaw, the previous Labour Secretary of State for DCMS in October 2009) is the balance of the £25m project costs when money by other sources has been taken into account.

Where are all the modern day Cecil Chubb-style philanthropists when you need them?

Immortality awaits the one who's prepared to stick their hand in their pocket and rescue this project immediately.
