Summer Solstice 2009
by Simon at 11:51 18/06/09 (Blogs::Simon)
*Assuming* that my dad's out of hospital (or at least is stable and comfortable) I plan to be going to Stonehenge for the solstice.

Open access starts at 7pm on Saturday night, so I'll be heading off around 6pm. Anyone else planning to go?

You may find me accompanied by an elderly neighbour who's been keen to go for ages and whom I've offered to escort.

She's really up for it, despite my cautions about it being an all-nighter with 30,000+ variously weirded-out druids, hippies and partygoers and there being a mile long walk involved both ways :-)

Damn, going to be away :-(

Sorry to hear your dad's poorly. Hope he recovers well.

Hi Simon... sorry to hear your father is not in good health :(

I may join you for solstice... keep me posted of your situation as I probably won't go if you don't... I'm seriously busy with a new project (http://worldshift2012.org/) and milling about amongst 30,000+ variously weirded-out druids, hippies and partygoers is hardly a new experience for me ;-)

I'm definitely aiming to go - should be back in Wiltshire by about 1pm Saturday and will give you a bell in the afternoon.

Certainly was - Tom's got his photos online already, I'll aim to put mine somewhere today.

He's a bit better today, thanks - they've removed the external drainage plumbing, there aren't any holes in him at the moment and he's feeling much more perky - we're hopeful he may be able to come home next week some time to be fattened up in preparation for a Whipple operation.

Looks very likely I'll be going to Solstice - if my elderly neighbour still wants to go I might do a Saturday evening quick visit (7pm -> sunset) then take her home and return a bit later to do the all-night thang. If she doesn't fancy going after all, I'll be going for the duration.

Will probably be ensconced between stones 1 and 30, if I can grab that spot but I'll have my mobile with me in any case.

Cheers

Lovely piccies there Simon. Wish I'd been able to make it, had a good time in France though.
