Stonehenge Date Evidence (and Equinox stuff)
by Simon at 10:03 22/09/08 (Blogs::Simon)
2300BC or thereabouts, according to evidence from a bluestone socket that was excavated this year.

Timewatch on BBC2, Saturday 27th Sept 2008 @ 20:05 has a documentary on the subject.

A few hundred people were at Stonehenge this morning for the autumn equinox celebration and to witness a handfasting ceremony - a couple of pics are attached.

I heard from an archaeologist this morning that the dating evidence shown in the program (a grain of carbonised cereal) is in fact Iron Age, and NOT what was used to provide the 2300BC date for the bluestone placement.
