Date formats in Apple Numbers
by Bruce Ure at 10:58 10/06/08 (Blogs::Bruce)
I can't beliiiiiiiieve Numbers doesn't have an option to format a Date cell in the only sensible date format known to man: yyyymmdd. Nothing even close! Not even yyyy-mm-dd. Nothing beginning yyyy AT ALL!

And I can't even find a way to ADD one, FFS!!

If anyone knows of a way, please tell.

or....

1. Close Numbers
2. Delete the Numbers preference file: home > Library > Preferences,
com.apple.iWork.Numbers.plist.
3. Relaunch Numbers it will create a clean com.apple.iWork.Numbers.plist.
4. Highlight the column, Click the B at the column top.
5. From Cell Inspector set the date format to what you desire
6. In column B click a cell then input a date. How does it perform?.

Thanks for both of these but the problem is that the list of available date formats does not include any beginning YYYY, and there is no way of entering your own date formats -- you HAVE to pick one from the list :-(
