The comet will be visible in the SOHO and STEREO coronagraphs from January 12 to 15, so if your skies are too murky you can always follow along here.

Here are a couple of photos taken this evening (around 5pm) with my Kodak DX6490. They're 5 separate 7/10 of a second shots @ 80 ISO overlaid in PhotoShop. The second one has a slight tweak to the contrast and brightness.
I really must get a camera that doesn't twitter about trying to focus on infinity using edge detection. Still, better than nothing.
It's an impressive sight in binoculars.
Oh, and here's our local source of light pollution - Stonehenge Golf Driving Range on Larkhill.

Here's another pic of the lights from Stonehenge Golf Driving Range at Larkhill, as seen from about 3 miles away, taken with a zoom lens.
It's not even dark yet, and they're dazzling

I do plan to contact them at some point and ask if they've considered the impact their lights are having, both environmentally and energy-wise.
First time they got switched on after we moved here, I thought it was the military and was really surprised to find it was the golf course instead.

Here's a nice photo taken with a Canon 300D this morning by a guy in Suffolk.

Rob McNaught's put a web page up with the background to his discovery of this comet and the very first images taken of it.
http://msowww.anu.edu.au/~rmn/C2006P1.htm
It'll be worth keeping an eye on, since he's in Australia and the southern hemisphere looks like it's in for a spectacular show when the comet passes perihelion and starts heading southwards to below the ecliptic.

Yup, it'll be a bit lower in the sky (it's heading around the Sun from 'top' to 'bottom' from our POV quite quickly) - but I'm going to try and see it again sometime around 5pm (it sets at 5.25pm).
You'll need a completely clear horizon 'cos it's only 3° above it at 5pm. Look to the south west and find Venus (very bright) and then look about a couple of clenched-fists' at arm's length distance to the right, and lower down in the sky.

Bugger, I'll not be able to make that, due to this horror they call "work". I hate not being my own boss.

Quick animation I've knocked up of the images so far from the SOHO C3 data.
See the attachment below. Notice how the camera on SOHO had its exposure adjusted to cope with the tremendous brightness of the comet (you can tell when the 'spikes' disappear from Mercury, which is the bright spot in the lower left.)
Addendum: NASA have done one too (.mpg rather than .mov)
