These things are sent to test us..
by David Crowson at 10:41 24/05/06 (Blogs::Dave)
the front bulb blew on my bike the day before yesterday and I took it to the bike shop to get fixed (sorted within an hour for 30 euros all in , that'd be 3 times as much in the UK)

Left the shop and popped round the corner to www.outland-bar.de for some food.

Noticed a small fuel leak, prodded the fuel hose which turned it into a major fuel leak, so I thought I'd leave it till all the petrol had drained , but some bugger called the fire brigade (the bike was sat in a pool of petrol) ...6 firemen then pumped out the rest of the juice and cleaned up the street.

If I'd have gone straight home from the bike shop I'm sure I'd be dead right now...cos the hole in the fuel hose was cased by the hose dropping down and being burnt open by the exhaust.

Bit of a bollock really as the gaff I'm living in is out in the sticks and not on the train lines...I didn't make it back there last night, slept on the floor of an American chap I'd made friends with last week in the same bar.....

Still, it's an adventure innit :)

cos they're efficient Germans and I had not asked them to invstigate the strange smell of petrol that had been occuring over the last few days.. :-0

They're looking at it now though :)

I'm all up for a bit of excitment now and again, but that would've been a bit too much...

Good job I'd made some new friends, cos without them i'd have been buggered....and now the Aussie barman has offered to lend me his car for a few days, which is nice....but then Munich is like that....

Wow, the garages in the UK could learn a thing or two from these Bavarians about customer satisfaction.

When i take my bike to Jack Lilleys (The UK's No.1 Triumph dealer), for example, they charge 40ukp/hour exclusive of VAT for labour.

The fix for the petrol leak on the Suzuki took 14 hours ... total labour cost incl VAT -- 85 Euros...that's 4.20 ukp per hour inclusive of VAT for labour (parts were 35 Euros).....

So if you have break down , do it over here :)

So what you're saying is that they only charge for the time they work on the bike, not all the time the bike is sitting in the shop. Essentially you're paying Jack Lilley's boys to sit around, drink tea and smoke fags and work on other peoples' bikes.

No, Lilleys are quite efficient when it comes to work, they just charge 10 times as much.....
