Re: X Prize Simon - 15:49 29/09/04
Seems to be suffering from extreme levels of dropped connections from here.

Tried Windoze Media Player on both Windoze and Mac OS X, and either the streaming server is collapsing under the load or WMP is total arse.

I can get about 40 seconds of stream before it cuts off. When I eventually reconnect, I get the same video as before and it drops again at the same place. Eventually (with me just hitting 'load it again' at this end) I get to see some new video.

It's got a bit better - 273:15:00:... is the timestamp on the video from the craft now.

Notice the Virgin logo on SS1?

Why is it whenever you want to watch something somebody always believes that they have something more important for you to do.

I saw the take off then had to attend to and "important issue" missing the rest

Humbugs

and you didn't ask them what is more important than the advancement of human endeavour, the birth of a new industry and history in the making :)

Re: X Prize Gordon Hundley - 15:19 30/09/04
Likewise. Afterwards I wondered if Melville was a hot-dogger as well as a test pilot and astronaut. You couldn't ask for a better demonstration of how good this little spaceship is. Like Rutan said, if a space shuttle had done that they'd still be picking small pieces out of the desert.

The real reason for the spinning Simon - 15:27 30/09/04
He had to spin that way in order to energise the weapon he was using to push Toutatis away from Earth, which it was approaching at that very moment.

All very hush-hush, naturally ;-)
