Ubuntu
by Bruce Ure at 03:12 27/02/11 (Blogs::Bruce)
I recently installed 10.10 (Maverick Meercat) and it is absurdly good. Very polished, and piss-easy to install and configure.
There are fewer and fewer reasons I can see to stick with Maccishness as main machine, particularly hardware, beyond strokeability.

So my next big PC purchase is likely to be a stupidly-powerful Linux machine running Snow Leopard and Windows in VMs, rather than a stupidly powerful Mac running Linux and Windows in VMs.

Just sayin'.

Jack managed to install Ubuntu Linux in a VM on Windows a few weeks back. He's 11. That's how easy it is to install and configure. :-)

I've tried it but I like the integration of the Mac ecosystem too much to switch to it. Plus there's something about the font and layout that just grates.
