In the dead of night......
David Crowson [Blogs::Dave] 03:36 15/07/04 | Comments: 1
Damn, I love coming into the office late at night, it's just me and the security guard, which means I'm free to have the ipod playing tunes at full volume , and it's the only time you'll ever see me (not that you can:) dancing round the office in a manner not unlike the Child catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang whilst I manipulate the mechanisms of the companys global data.

Do you think I've been drinking too much coffee :)

Gee, I remember on several occasions, allegedly , walking out of MOD premises with mag tapes under my arm in full view of security, and this was 20 years ago.......

Of course, the data was nothing sensitive, but they never even questioned it......

Hacking Oracle
David Crowson [Blogs::Dave] 12:42 14/07/04
Need to take full control of an Oracle database, but don't have any of the passwords ?

This works.....

e.g.For a database called TEST

Login as the Oracle owner, or sysadmin

1.Shut the service OracleTEST
2. Delete the $ORACLE_HOME/pwdTEST.ora file
3. orapwd file=$ORACLE_HOME/pwdTEST.ora password=numpties entries=10
4. oradim -edit -sid TEST -intpwd numpties -startmode auto -pfile $ORACLE_HOME/initTEST.ora
5. start the service oracleTEST
5. svrmgrl internal/numpties
6. Dance and sing, for verily you are a bofh of the highest order......

Muhahahahaha...

(That should be good for a least a 3-month extension to the contract:)

Got home last night to find the entire village without power, lucky I had some candles left over from PistonFest (and my Cropredy Lantern:)

Of course, no power= no heating = no hot water and also no power=no heated waterbed=sleep on the sofa, so I phoned work today and said I'll not be in as I can't have a bath or iron a shirt, so it's double shift time as of 10.30pm tonite :-/

Power came back at 1.30pm today...

Timeline, half an hour ago....

Went into the local Halifax to set up a business account, and it went
something like this....

Me: I'd like to set up a business account please

Them: you'll need to do that on the phone
[phones a number, hands me the phone]

Phone person: you'll need to step into your local branch in order to
set up a business account.

Me: I _am_ standing in my local branch...
[hands phone back to numpty in local branch]

Them: Oh, our business account person has gone to lunch

Me : [smiles politely, walks out]

and I thought going to the dentist was bad.....

portable flagpole
David Crowson [Blogs::Dave] 12:16 07/06/04
In preparation for Le Mans I'm in the process of thinking about building a portable flagpole (for my PH and Bentley flags) that I can carry on the bike. Someone suggested a kite shop, so I had a look around and came across these in Reading

I shall be spending some time in there this arvo :)

or not, as this place is just as far and is better equipped....

There's a little bit of funk
there's a little bit of soul
there's a little bit of disco
but combining on the whole

With a little bit of ambient
and a little bit of latin
a little bit of country
in a groovilicious pattern.

There's a little bit of love
there's a little bit of hate
in just the right proportion
the ambience should be great.

There's a little bit of acid
there's a little bit of trance
there's a little bit of everything
to make the people dance

Please play the list in order
but it's really up to you
I've just made it flow quite nicely
the best way I could do.
